Shitty Nielsen generates opinion data by asking simple questions.

Who?

Our survey data is provided by a closed group of volunteers who vote on these questions. We do not publish the identities of our participants nor the criteria for selection.

On the whole, our population is designed to be representative of 20-35 year-old, young professionals in America.

We believe understanding this group of people will improve insight into the future of American politics, economics, culture, and overall behavior.

Why?

Inspired by the Good Judgement Project’s Superforecasters, we believe that asking the right people the right questions can be an incredible source of insight about the future.

Where the Good Judgement project is focused on collecting predictions, we collect opinions because we think predictions are just organized opinions. The problem is, asking prediction questions requires a lot of prediction. If you want to ask whether Russia will Invade Ukraine, you first have to predict it might!

What is this data good for?

You tell us! Shitty Nielsen is not a global events predictor or a consumer sentiment survey. We generate and publish raw data on what people think about stuff. We believe that the people who answer our questions are generally representative of the future influential community in America. We are not interested in Americans per se, but rather people with some tie to the American Political Economy.

I’m sure there is some doubt about the ability of anyone to identify tangible and intangible qualities that make someone likely to be ‘influential’ in the future. For obvious concerns about impacting our own data collection, we won’t publish what we think these qualities are. It is entirely up to you whether you think this is achievable or not, and if we have actually done so. Once again, opinions drive behavior.
